3rd International Congress of Aesthetic Medical Practitioners

On February 13, 2021 several enthusiastic specialists working in the field of aesthetic medicine (aesthetic surgery and aesthetic dermatology) met at the Faculty of Medicine with the simple pitch of establishing an association that will protect the interests of these specialists, as well as the safety of patients.

Pursuant to the Law of Associations and Foundations (Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia no. 52/10, 135/11,55/16) the statute and the decision for establishing the Association for Aesthetic Medicine - ZEM Skopje were reached. The members of the founding assembly will act as a Founding Committee which will constitute the Board of Executive Members, Igor Peev, MD has been appointed as the first President and Andjelka Ilieva, MD as a Secretary of the Association.

The Association for Aesthetic Medicine is a public voluntary non-governmental civil organization which has the capacity of a legal entity that unites all activities of members, institutions and organizations in the interest of exercising their rights through statutory regulation.

Mission

We strive towards becoming the leaders in the field of education and innovation in aesthetic and anti-age medicine. In addition, we would like to act on the mental and physical health of people through the highest quality education and training. Furthermore, The Association for Aesthetic Medicine will connect the MD professionals who are interested into further education, sharing experiences, development and overall professional advancement. We organize numerous symposia in cooperation with international medical organizations in the field of aesthetics and medicine with special interest in non-surgical and minimally invasive aesthetics of the face and body, as well as the development of the medical profession and health care in general.

One of our major visions is the implementation of high quality health services in the field of aesthetics performed by qualified professional staff - Doctors of medicine with practice in regulated health care institutions.

We strive towards creating a network of doctors working in this field who will support each other and easily solve potential complications.

What is Anti-Age Medicine?

Medical procedures in the field of aesthetic and anti-age medicine include:

Skin filling and volumizing technologies, filling of subcutaneous layer and mucous membranes in order to remove or alleviate the signs of aging (injections of dermal fillers)
Application of botulinum toxin to reduce and correct wrinkles
Minimally invasive face lifting techniques - thread lift
Regenerative medicine - application of PRP method (Platelet rich plasma)
Mesotherapy
Chemical peels
Collagen induction therapy - dermabrasion and microneedling - which penetrates the stratum corneum or 0.2mm around the nose and eyes, 0.5mm on the rest of the face and neck, and 1mm on the rest of the body
Carboxytherapy

Electromagnetic spectrum: non-ablative fractional skin rejuvenation, ablative fractional rejuvenation, IPL (intense pulse light) treatments, photodynamic therapy, radiofrequency, infrared and other skin rejuvenation devices
High-frequency and radiofrequency ultrasound and other energy-based treatments that warm the skin above 42® C degrees
Biomodulation LED light treatments (light emitting diodes or equivalent electromagnetic sources over 500mW / cm2)
Focused ultrasound

The above medical procedures must be performed only in private or public health institutions by certified doctors.

These procedures must NOT be performed in beauty salons and similar facilities, which have not been registered as health institutions, regardless of whether the procedure is performed by a doctor, dentist or other health professional.

What is Aesthetic Surgery?

Aesthetic surgery is a surgical branch of plastic surgery which deals with the correction of aesthetic defects and anomalies, beautification and rejuvenation of the human face and body. This branch of surgery is part of anti-age medicine which aims to improve the appearance of the face and body in order to give it a younger and fresher look.

Facial surgeries:

Nose correction (rhinoplasty) or nose and septum correction (rhinoseptoplasty)
Eye correction - tightening of the upper and lower eyelids (blepharoplasty), changing the shape and placement of the corners of the eyes, etc.
Lip correction (lip lift, lip filling with own fatty tissue or other tissue)
Face-lifting
Jaw line correction and correction of other facial structures
Facial filling (lipofilling, fat-transfer)
Face and chin liposuction etc.

All surgical procedures must be performed in an operating room under strictly controlled sterile, aseptic conditions and performed by a qualified plastic surgeon.
